This qualification reflects the role of individuals employed as beauty therapists to provide a broad range of beauty therapy treatments and services including facial treatments, body massage and treatments, hair removal, lash and brow treatments, nail and make-up services. This includes consultation with clients to provide beauty advice, recommend beauty treatments and services, and sell retail skincare and cosmetic products. These individuals work relatively autonomously and are accountable for personal outputs. Their work involves the self-directed application of knowledge and skills with substantial depth in some areas where judgement is required in planning and selecting appropriate equipment, services and techniques. Work is typically conducted in beauty salons and spas. The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice. No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Entry requirements
International Students
- Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Undertake a pre-enrolment interview / initial skill assessment.
- Must have completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent level of schooling or a Certificate IV or higher qualification with an Australian institution.
- Meet evidentiary requirements for country of origin
- Must demonstrate English level of IELTS 6.0 with no band less than 5.5 or equivalent, such as:
- IELTS 6.0 or equivalent
- LLN and Digital Assessment
- AIS Pre-course Interview
Domestic Students

Students will need to successfully complete all units in this course to receive a certificate of SHB50121 – Diploma of Beauty Therapy.
Learners who partially complete the qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units they are deemed competent.
Students undertake training and assessment as per training schedule and the clinic activities are undertaken by the student
during each term.
• Students will learn theory and be assessed as outlined in the training
schedule however the students clinic activities, observations and
implementation of the required skills and knowledge which are recorded in
the clinic logbook and client consultation forms are conducted during each
term.
• Summative assessment tasks are due after the completion of each unit.
Assessment due dates are given to students and recorded in their assessment workbook
in each term. This allows students sufficient time to prepare and submit
their assessment tasks.
AIS doesn’t guarantee any career opportunities. However, Graduates may obtain a range of employment opportunities in areas such as beauty therapist, skincare specialist, nail technician and more. Graduates at this level will apply knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy, judgement and defined responsibility.
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING RPL/ CREDIT TRANSFER
AIS recognises qualifications issued by other RTOs. AIS will accept and mutually recognise the qualifications and Statements of Attainment awarded by any other registered training organisation unless precluded by licensing requirements. We can also grant you Credit Transfer for subjects or units you have completed where equivalence can be established between the unit in your course, and the subject or unit you have completed.
